Home Restoration: Does the goverment provide aid?
Home Restoration is something that, without a doubt, will require a lot of spending, starting with materials and then with labor and disposal. So the question is, can the government help funding this projects?
The answer fortunately is yes. But it is no easy task because for a start, you need to justify the need for home restoration (a flood or other natural disaster or because it is a place that has to be saved for posterity), also, it is likely that representatives from the local government may visit the place to ascertain the situation and learn what exactly is it that needs to be done.
It is important to mention that if the project gets approved you might not get the exact amount you´re looking for but just a percentage, so you need to be ready to obtain the remaining funds to go on. Also you need to check and recheck your numbers before you present your project, the worse thing that can happen is that you fall into a cost overrun which will cause you not just to get a percentage of funds but another amount that you were not even aware it was needed.
Also, make sure that everything is taken into account, from materials, no matter how small (nails, staples, screws, bolts, etc.), and consumables like glue, masking tape, electrical tape, and so on. Make sure you plan a quantity that exceeds a bit what you actually think you will need. Don’t let anything to chance.
Remember, if you are presenting a project to a government office chances are that you actually get full funding (again, it depends on the case) and thus you don’t want to fall in trouble in the middle of the project.
Home Restoration is a delicate matter, and if you are involving government funds, you are increasing that delicacy level to a very high point.
