Home Restoration after a flood or a major leak
No doubt that home restoration can mean a lot of things and one of them is what to do when a house is affected by either a flood or a major leak. A lot of work is required to get everything back the way it was and be rest assured it´ll take several days.
The first step is to take all the water out of every place, the excess water will probably need to be pumped out, that’s the first step, depending on the amount of water you will need to decide whether or not you need more than one pump and where to place it, as well, where will you be disposing of the water.
Once this is achieved the next part is to take the rest of the humidity out, the best choice is to use a dehumidifier in order to dry furniture, carpets and other materials, it is important to take notices that dehumidifying can take several days and a lot of patience depending on the amount of humidity you need to take out.
Another alternative is to use a carpet blower which sends high velocity air to the carpet in order to dry it up, this is a faster procedure but will only work for carpets whereas a dehumidifier will work for anything and everything you have on the room.
Once everything is dry it is also recommended to use and apply a mold fogger in order to prevent the formation of mold (common when excess humidity is present) and to take care of odors as well.
As you can see doing home restoration in case of a severe leak or a flood requires a lot of work and access to different types of equipment, the good news is that you don’t need to buy it, you can rent it for as long as you need it and have the work complete.
