Home Restoration: Using the right nails for the right job
Today in home restoration we tackle a very curious topic and it is how to choose the right nails for a determined job. One might think that hanging something or securing something reduces to the simple process of getting a nail out of a box, lift the hammer and that’s that. Well the answer (to the shock of many) is no.
In today’s world, when you visit a hardware store you will find a whole alley devoted to nails and nails only. And this is because manufacturers have went lengths to literally provide you with the right nail for the exact job you need it to.
But if we talk about specifics, regardless of size, it’s the fact that there are two main types of nails: wood and concrete. This is because these are the two most different types of surfaces you will find yourself against when working.
For one, nails for concrete structures are mainly made of steel and titanium, this because they need to be strong to not just pass through the concrete but also the steel grid that lays between layers of concrete, normal or wood nails are made of metal and will bond and break before that can even start scratching the concrete.
But when working on wood, this nails will easily go through and secure whatever thing is it that we are working on.
Not using the right nails for the job will definitely result in a poorly done job and even in injury if the nail breaks and flies apart. So, before you lift the hammer check what kind of nails you will need.
